The 8th Calgary European Film Festival

starts on Saturday, November 2, 2019!

The eighth edition of the Calgary European Film Festival starts on Saturday, November 2 until Sunday November 10; for nine days of bold European cinema at the Globe Cinema with a record 22 films, each from a different European country, screened in their original languages with English subtitles.

Tickets sell at $12 per film. We also have two different pass options to enjoy more of the festival for less: a five-film pass for $50 (available in-person only at the Festival Box Office) and a festival pass for $145. The 1st European Union Film Series in Calgary starts tomorrow, September 9, 2019!

Believing in expanding our event offering throughout the year, we’ve partnered with the Delegation of the European Union in Canada and the Calgary Public Library to bring to Calgarians free screenings of renowned films from the member states of the European Union.

For this first edition in 2019, three films will be showcased on September 9, October 7 and December 10 at the Central Library. Screenings take place at 6:30pm and while there is no charge, online registration is required at https://events.calgarylibrary.ca/programs/online-registration

The 1st Calgary Spanish Film Festival starts on Tuesday, October 8, 2019!

As if two fall events aren’t enough, we’ve also partnered with the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa and Globe Cinema to organize the inaugural Calgary Spanish Film Festival (CSFF), set to take place during the month of October.

Four Spanish films, ranging from comedy to drama, with no commercial distribution in Canada will have their Calgary premiere on Tuesdays at 6:45pm. Tickets sell at $10 per film (available in-person only at the Festival Box Office). Films will be screened in their original languages with English subtitles.

 The festival will run in parallel in Ottawa and Toronto, making it a multi-city, cultural event. More information is available at http://www.spainculture.ca
